I think part of the reason why Zayn named his album 'Nobody is listening' is that People "hear" the songs, they may stream it on Spotify,youtube or whatever. but how many actually looks really into the lyrics, the reasons why he writes what he writes, the backstories and such.. Likes and views doesn't define the beauty of a song. It's about how the listeners react to the efforts and commitment the artist has put into it. I think it's an understatement to say that his music is not appreciated much. It's more like his emotions aren't appreciated much.

No one is actually listening to him. No one’s willing to know the truth, and believe him. I think that’s what he’s trying to say in the song, but I could be wrong.

I’m seeing many comments saying “oh we are listening” or “ I guess we are nobody” etc etc many people who have listened to this album are doing exactly what zayn is saying “Nobody is listening” you may be hearing but your not listening and actually thinking about the lyrics and what zayn is trying to tell us we have to really interpret everything and listen. What I think zayn is telling us is how the media conveys him as such a different person that what he actually is an many people fans or not (I’m not saying everybody) believe the media, we don’t (again not everyone) see his side of the story, thankfully not AS much now as before even though I still see hate towards zayn but I remember when he first left one direction people were so mean to him and we’re watching him all the time(hence the faces on the cover of the album) waiting for him to screw up. (again not everyone, I keep saying that so i don’t get attacked) when Zayn left the band he had a VERY valid reason to leave he wasn’t in the best place mentally, he wasn’t happy and he was very stress and felt overworked/ overwhelmed. Many of zayns songs have a message or a story behind it and if you haven’t found them yet I highly encourage you to try and find it or if you can’t do it yourself (which isn’t terrible I used to not be able to do it myself but with time you will be able to ) look it up but on more than one website or ask a friend who also listens to him but if you do it online do it on more than one website because you may find a website that isn’t listening or interpreting the lyrics.. this was a very jumbled comment and I wasn’t sure how to word it specially since English isn’t my first language but I hope it made some sense. Zayn literally made a reference to one of the greatest rapper of all time's lyrics. Nas once said "I never sleep, cause sleep is the cousin of death" and here Zayn raps "i wanna bed you, but sleep is still deaths cousin". That's actually insane. I didn't expect that. I'm not sure if it's intentional, but the fact he's tried out some rap on his album AND made a nas reference is so sick.

This album is a gem, Zayn doesn't make music, he definitely makes art, I love all his music, it's great, Zayn deserves more recognition than he already has.

To people who were mad at him for not acknowledging the 1D anniversary- here you go. Being in 1D was horrendous for him and it's absolutely fine if he doesn't want anything to do with it now. Clearly, he's still dealing with the aftermath of it. If you still hold that against him, leave him alone. Listen to the other boys, to Liam, how they describe and insinuate 1D. How they were a brand, than people. Listen to how different their music, style, personality and lifestyle is from what was projected. And how we (I assume) were babies who never saw the problem right below the surface. It's okay for him to not talk to the boys, to not acknowledge 1D, to not appreciate being there. He left for his sanity, and it takes guts to do that.
